Chris Schultz-Merrick

Director 2014 - Current

Co-Founder of Metspray NZ

 

With over 20 years experience in the Protective Coatings industry

through his time at Metspray and working for PPG Protective and Marine Coatings, as New Zealand Sales Manager, and Dulux 

Protective Coatings, as Northland Territory Manager.

Chris’s background in protective coatings gives him the tools, &

knowledge to understand how critical they are to the life expectancy to any project or asset. He is passionate about 

driving quality back into this industry since embarking on his journey as Director of Metspray, He

has worked tirelessly to install in all his team that quality is number one.

Kim Schultz-Merrick

Finance Manager 2014 - Current

Co-Founder of Metspray NZ

Chris & Kim took over the Metspray business in January 2014, taking on 7 existing employees. Over the last 5 years, our staff have increased to

34 members, 6 of which are the original staff members. When we took over the business there were no processes in place, & manual job sheets. We have bought the company up to the

21st century with technology & processes.

As Metspray’s Finance Manager, Kim is across all aspects of the

business assisting Chris when needed, with governance of the company.

Dave Holmes

Originally responsible for 10 staff, 3years on we have risen to 25 staff

on the shop floor. Duties include day to day running of 3 plants and night shift 5 days a week.

Responsible for 10 staff, estimating, production, Health and safety,

budget. Trained in internal audit systems, Accident investigation,

hazard control and management.

Came from Australia 2007, to run new site, 45 staff.

Apprenticeship ( body and paint) worked my way up to Supervisor of

factory. Factory trained and attended college for 5 years.

Gained National qualifications in Panel and Paint procedure. City @

Guilds parts 1-4

Left after 30 years continuous employment to emigrate to Australia

Sarah Edwards

QA & Administration Manager 2016 - Current

As a new entrant to the protective coatings industry my purpose

was to absorb industrial knowledge and assist the owners to drive

process and technological development and improvement across the administrative operations of Metspray.

In this time frame, I

have grown from on floor QA inspections and administrative

assistant to now leading a team of 9 focused on the

administration, Quality Assurance and Inwards - Dispatch

operating arms of Metspray.

Ricky has Managed the Metspray Site team since April 2018. He

has an outstanding understanding of the protective coatings

industry and products. Ricky’s employee’s have benefited from his

knowledge to grow into an experienced Site Abrasive Blasting and

Protective Coating application unit.

Steve Gollop

Commercial Project Specialist June 2019 - Current

 

25 years of industrial experience in abrasive blasting and industrial coatings field. 

I spent 16 years working in all aspects of the abrasive blasting and industrial coatings on mill sites for Corrosion control NZ LTD. The business changed hands to Transpacific industries I continued working for Transpacific as Branch manager for 5 years until it was sold to Intergroup NZ LTD. I continued ad branch manager there after for 2 years. There after I moved to Auckland and continued with Intergroup NZ Ltd for 2 years in the field of Intumescent coatings as supervisor them moving into logistics roll. 

The work I have performed, abrasive blasting on mild steel tanks and structural steel I also have completed a lot of work based around blast cleaning of steam turbines for allied industrial engineering and customers such as Rolls Royce, Other customers I have preformed work for are councils mill sites and power generation businesses throughout the central region. I have now joined Metspray as commercial projects specialist and am proud to be part of the Team.
